Chairmans Report 2024/25
Marshchapel Parish Council
Councillor Paul Rickett, Chair Report – 20th May 2025
Yet another busy year has passed us by and another report is now due.
We have a dedicated team of eight Councillors who have given us stability for another year as we have continued to meet bi-monthly in May, July, September, November, January and March, usually on the 2nd Tuesday (but not always). Our meetings have been regularly attended by Cllr McNally, who has helped us in so many ways. We are sad to see him beaten in the recent election and wish him all the best for the future. We will continue to have his wisdom and input at our Parish Council meetings as he is still a District Councillor along with myself. We look forward to meeting and working with our new Reform Councillor.
During last summer we finally got the amenity area near the Village Hall tidied up. We now have a lovely planter, two seats, a notice board and a flag pole, which together with the Christmas tree (at Christmas) makes it much more presentable. The big trees have been pruned back. A big ‘Thank you’ to Internetty for allowing us to have power for our Christmas lights, we really do appreciate it.
The War Memorial, maintained by a volunteer villager, always looks immaculate and we would like to thank him for continuing to maintain this important feature of the village. We especially liked the poppies for Remembrance Day and would like to thank the ladies involved for their hard work
We have received a further Lottery Grant for a ‘Ninja Trail’ which we hope to get installed in the next few weeks. The Monkey Climber and play boat have been successful, as has the gate we were requested to install. We replaced the bench and fencing that was involved with a road traffic accident after claiming on our insurance.
We are in the process of dealing with the broken swings, we hope to be able to replace these quite quickly.
Planning applications continued to come in, which we monitor and comment on. If any Parishioner needs our help in submitting their views and comments please get in touch with the Clerk. Our website is full of information about the Parish Council and all activities in the village. Please check it out at: marshchapel.parish.lincolnshire.gov.uk
A contentious issue in the village is cars speeding; we are aware of the problems and are monitoring things with the help of CSW with a view to finding a way forward in due course.
These sort of issues take time but please be aware we are looking into this.
Finally, none of the above would be possible without the continued support from all the Parish Councillors, the District Councillors and the hard work put in by our Clerk. I am very grateful for all their efforts and the work they put in.
