Report from Chair 12.5.2026
Marshchapel Parish Council
Chair Report – 11th May 2026
Another busy year has passed us by and my report is now due.
A team of eight Councillors have given us stability for another year as we have continued to meet bi-monthly in May, July, September, November, January and March, usually on the 2nd Tuesday (but not always). Our meetings have been regularly attended by Cllr Robinson, our County Councillor and by myself and Cllr McNally on behalf of the District Council.
We received a further Lottery Grant for a ‘Ninja Trail’ which was installed in the Play Area during July/August and it has been a great success. We also were able to carry out repairs on the broken swings and the climbing net on the multi-play equipment. We are looking at making more improvements on the Playing Field and this is an ongoing project.
Our dedicated volunteer does a wonderful job at the War Memorial and our thanks go to him, once again.
A big ‘Thank you’ to Internetty for allowing us to have power for our Christmas lights again this year, we really do appreciate it.
We submitted our comments about the proposed Grimsby to Walpole electricity pylons and this project is still going ahead, you can get updates from their web site.
Due to the regulations on the village there have been very few planning applications but we monitor any that come. If any Parishioner needs our help in submitting their views and comments please get in touch with the Clerk. Our website is full of information about the Parish Council and all activities in the village. Please check it out at: marshchapel.parish.lincolnshire.gov.uk
Our speed camera is continuing to monitor the traffic in the village and we are building a picture up.
To comply with central government regs, the Parish Council and all Councillors now have a gov.uk email address.
After years of writing, ringing, photographing and complaining by ourselves, the District Councillors and the School Governors it would appear that the puddle, outside the school gates, has finally been resolved and the drains rebuilt. Hopefully when the weather is wet we will no longer get soaked from the cars driving through the puddle.
Finally, none of the above would be possible without the continued support from all the Parish Councillors, the District and County Councillors and the hard work put in by our Clerk. I am very grateful for all their efforts and the work they put in.
Councillor Paul Rickett
Chairman – Marshchapel Parish Council
